WHAT IS BAPTISM?

The word 'baptism' simply means to 'dip' or 'immerse' in water. Watch the video below as it explains why baptism is a special observance for Christians ever since Jesus started the church:

Message on Baptism

WHY BE BAPTIZED?

Jesus tells us that when we put our faith in him and become his followers, the next step is to publicly declare our faith in him through this sacred ritual. It marks our initiation into his family and represents our identification with Jesus in his death, burial to our old life and our resurrection to new life. If you have put your faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection to save you from your sins and God’s judgment, we want to encourage you to take that next step of baptism.

"Baptism is an act of obedience for all believers. While other modes of believer’s baptism are recognized, baptism by immersion is taught and practiced as the Scriptural mode." - Article 5, Local Church Constitution, Policy of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
