"The Christian Carpe Diem" sermon by Pastor Kevin Rutledge

New Year reflections

The unexamined life is not worth living (Socrates)

Eternal vs. temporary

Matthew 6:19-21 - Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The bottom line

Matthew 22:37-39 - Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

James 2:8 - If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing right.

Galatians 5:14 - The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Our Vision Statement:

Touching our world through Jesus Christ one life at a time.

Apostle Paul’s version of Carpe Diem: Seize the day

Ephesians 5:15-17 - Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.
