"When Jesus Blesses, Miracles Happen" by Daniel Mills

1. Jesus is concerned about you holistically

Mark 6:30-31 The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.

Mark 6:34 – He had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

Mark 6:37 – But Jesus said, “You feed them.”

Mark 6:39 – Then Jesus told the disciples to have the people sit down in groups on the green grass.

Mark 6:43 – Afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish.

1 Peter 5:7 – Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Matthew 10:30 – The very hairs on your head are all numbered.

In the experiences of Jesus, there were many times that he was concerned about the wellness and wholeness of people:

·    he raised the widow’s son because of her relational need (Luke 7:11-17)

·    he healed Peter’s mother-in-law because of her physical need (Luke 4:38-40)

·    he visited Zacchaeus because of his spiritual need (Luke 19:1-10)

·    he calmed the storm because of his disciples emotional needs (Mark 4:35-41)

·    he healed the demonic to meet his mental needs (Mark 5:1-20)

·    he told John to take care of his mother while on the cross for her holistic needs (John 19:26-27)

2. Jesus thinks and works in the realm of faith

Mark 6:38 – “How much bread do you have?” he asked. “Go and find out.” They came back and reported, “We have five loaves of bread and two fish.”

Matthew 9:20-22 – She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment.

Mark 2:5 – Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”

Matthew 13:58 – And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.

1 Corinthians 12:7-10 – A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other…the same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles.

“A miracle is an event brought about by the power of God that is a temporary exception to the ordinary course of nature for the purpose of showing that God has acted in history” -Dr. Richard Purtill

3. Jesus can multiply what we have to be a blessing to others

Mark 6:41 – Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share.

The experiences you have with Jesus changes the ordinary to the extraordinary!

Numbers 11:23 – Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”
