"From Murderer to Missionary, Acts 9:1-16" sermon by Pastor Kevin Rutledge

Telling your story

.

Saul’s background

.

Let’s track Saul’s journey to faith

It’s God’s initiative (Acts 9:1-3; Galatians 1:15-16)

Acts 9:1-3 - Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.

Galatians 1:15-16 - But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man.

It is a personal encounter (Acts 9:4)

Acts 9:4 - He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"

It is a spiritual surrender (Acts 9:5-6)

Acts 9:5-6 - Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

It is changed life (Acts 9:15-16; 20-25; Philippians 3:7-9)
