"God Enters Our Messy Lives " by Leonor Lopes

2 Corinthians  6:18 - And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

Psalm 68:6 - God places the lonely in families

If we parachute into glimpses of family life we can see that in the midst of our brokenness, our failures, our messy complex family relationships there is God. And that makes all the difference. He is willing to enter our messy lives, transform us, transform the situation. He is willing to bring healing wholeness to our families and then to use our families to be a blessing to our world.

Genesis 12:1-3 -

Go forth from your country,

And from your relatives

And from your father’s house,

To the land which I will show you;

I will make you into a great nation,

    and I will bless you;

I will make your name great,

    and you will be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you,

    and whoever curses you I will curse;

and all peoples on earth

    will be blessed through you.

1.    Abraham and Sarah

2.     Isaac and Rebecca

3.    Jacob and Rachel/Leah

Genesis 3:9 - The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.

Genesis 39: 19-21 So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained. But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.

Our families struggle because we live in a broken world. but despite our own personal brokenness and the brokenness of our families, God works. Amidst  our brokenness, our failures, our messy complex family relationships there is God. And that makes all the difference. He is willing to enter our messy lives, transform us, transform the situation. He is willing to bring healing wholeness to our families and then to use our families to be a blessing to our world.
