"A Prayer to our Shepherd" sermon by Pastor Daniel Mills

1. When we are satisfied with Jesus, we will be overrun with blessings.

Psalm 23:1 – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Matthew 6:33 – But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

2. We start in the fields and we end in the house; we start as sheep and end as sons.

Luke 6:35-36 – But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

Matthew 5:44-45 –  But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.

Psalm 23:5 – You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies

Romans 8:14 – For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God

2 Corinthians 3:18 – So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

Hebrews 3:5-6 – “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house.

Matthew 20:28 –  For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.

3. Crisis and calamity brings us closer to God and helps us to trust Him.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Philippians 3:10-11 – I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!

Romans 5:3-4 – We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
