"The Gospel Grows Us" sermon by Pastor Daniel Mills

1. DO WHAT IS ORDINARY

Acts 2:42, 46-47

2. DO WHAT IS EXTRAORDINARY

Acts 10

3. DECLARE THE GOSPEL

A.     WE ARE ALL SINNERS

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

B.     GOD LOVES US ALL

John 3:16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

C.     JESUS SHED HIS BLOOD FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF OUR SINS

Ephesians 1:7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

D.     JESUS WAS BEATEN TO BRING HEALING TO OUR BODY, SOUL AND SPIRIT

1 Peter 2:24“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

E.     JESUS HUNG ON THE CROSS TO REDEEM US FROM THE CURSE

Galatians 3:13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

F. JESUS DIED IN ORDER TO DESTROY DEATH AND THE DEVIL

Hebrews 2:14-15Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

G.    WE CAN REPENT AND TURN TO JESUS

1 John 1:9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
