When do we go down to TAC?

We go down 6 times every year and it is on the 4th Saturday during the months of January, March, May, July, September & November.

Who can serve at TAC in-person?

We welcome anyone from Gr. 9 and older to come and serve at TAC.

People of any ages are welcome to provide sandwiches / crockpots for drop-off at UAC!

How much time do I have to allocate if I would like to serve?

Afternoon Serving at Toronto Alliance Church (TAC)

Location: 602 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M6J 1E3

In the afternoon, we head downtown to TAC (Bathurst & Queen) at 1:15 PM, arriving at 2:30 PM and volunteers will have the opportunity to serve the community directly. Tasks include set-up, welcoming guests, serving food, joining in worship, and clean-up.

Where can I park downtown?

  • Along Queen Street near TAC and pay with the Green P App or at the payment stations.
  • There is a Green P parking available at Augusta and Queen (4 blocks east of TAC).
  • For free on some of the side streets near TAC but can be hard to find.

How do I pack the sandwiches? Do I cut them?

Sandwich Preparation Instructions:

  1. Prepare the sandwiches using the entire loaf of sliced bread, as per sign-up.
  2. Ingredients you can use include Cheese, Lettuce, and condiments such as Butter, Mustard, and Ketchup. Do not use Mayo or Tomatoes to ensure the sandwiches maintain their freshness.
  3. Individually wrap each prepared sandwich, one per Ziploc, do not further cut, and you can either place them back into the original bread bag or in a box for transport.
  4. Clearly label the bag or box with the type of sandwich.

How do I prepare the crockpots of chili/soup?

Crockpot Preparation Instructions:

  1. Prepare your choice of chili/soup. To facilitate easier transportation and cleaning, please use a crockpot liner in your crockpot before adding your ingredients. Fill the crockpot to capacity, ensuring it is heated thoroughly before delivery.
  2. Label your crockpot (base, liner, lid) with your name to ensure it is returned to you. If you do not own a crockpot, we have a few crockpots that you can borrow.
  3. Indicate the type (chili/soup) on the pot or lid handle, specifying if it's a vegetarian option if applicable.

Can I borrow one of your crockpots?

If you do not own a crockpot, we have a few crockpots that you can borrow if you are willing to provide chili/soup.

How do I use the crockpot liner?

Please see the pictures below for how to make transporting and cleaning of crockpots easier. Reminder to please label the crockpot with the type of chili/soup you are providing.

If you need a crockpot liner, please let Lisa Mathieu know, or email tac@uachome.org

Do I need to worry about allergies when preparing the food?

No, there are no restrictions on what can be served at TAC. Just remember to label the bag of sandwiches and the crockpot.

Can I take pictures at TAC?

We ask that you please refrain from taking any pictures there in order to respect their privacy.
