MASTER'S PANTRY

Community Food Bank

Providing food for our community

Celebrating its 30th Anniversary, our UAC Master's Pantry has been a pillar in the York Region community since 1993, providing families with monthly sustenance through fresh food, canned goods, and other essential items. Many individuals and families are referred to the Master’s Pantry by York Region government agencies, showcasing a trusted legacy of support.

How does it work?

Our Master's Pantry food bank is open for you to use once a month. Although, we regularly host two separate pantries per month, we ask that you attend only one to help us serve as many families as possible.

Our food bank functions as a "drive-thru". Anyone looking to receive food, will drive up to the doors and pop open their trunk. One of our volunteers will then load a box of food in your trunk for you.

It's my first time, what do I need?

Our Master's Pantry food bank is open to everyone. There is no pre-registration required, all you need to do is come and our friendly volunteers are here to assist you through the registration process. Upon your first visit, please bring:

  • a copy of your ID
  • proof of your income
  • proof of rent

When are the pantries?

We warmly welcome you to our food distribution events, held typically twice a month, on Saturdays from 9 am - 10:30 am. See our calendar for upcoming dates >>

What about Christmas?

In October/November, Master’s Pantry begins its Christmas “Hampers of Hope” campaign which concludes mid-December. Approximately 200 hampers containing everything for a wonderful Christmas dinner and gifts for each member of the family.

Gratitude for the Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant

We are deeply thankful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous Capital grant, a part of their substantial investment in 448 non-profit projects for 2023-2024. This grant is instrumental in updating the electrical wiring and purchase of a large capacity commercial fridge and freezer at Master's Pantry. These enhancements allow us to serve our community more effectively and efficiently, ensuring we can provide essential food assistance to those in need with improved capabilities. This support from OTF is a testament to their commitment to building healthy and vibrant communities.
