"Christ our Saviour & Healer" sermon by Pastor Daniel Mills

Matthew 1:21 – And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins

Romans 3:23 – For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

1. Jesus saves us from our sins

1 John 2:2 – He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

2. Jesus saves us from the curse

Galatians 3:13 – But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing.

3. Jesus saves us from the fear of death and the devil

Hebrews 2:14-15 – Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Colossians 1:13 – For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son.

Luke 15:20 – So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.

Matthew 1:21 – And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins

He will sozo his people from their sins.

Matthew 9:22 – Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment.

Mark 6:56 – Wherever he went—in villages, cities, or the countryside—they brought the sick out to the marketplaces. They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed.

Mark 10:52 – And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.

Luke 8:36 – Then those who had seen what happened told the others how the demon-possessed man had been healed.

Acts 4:8-9 – Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of our people, are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed?”

Luke 19:10 – For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.

Romans 10:9 – If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:13 – For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Isaiah 53:5 – But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

1 Peter 2:24 – He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross

so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

Matthew 9:6 – So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins. Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
