What is baptism?
The word 'baptism' simply means to 'dip' or 'immerse' in water. Watch the video below as it explains why baptism is a special observance for Christians ever since Jesus started the church:
Why be baptized?
Jesus tells us that when we put our faith in him and become his followers, the next step is to publicly declare our faith in him through this sacred ritual (Matthew 28:18-20). It marks our initiation into his family and represents our identification with Jesus in his death, burial to our old life and our resurrection to new life. If you have put your faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection to save you from your sins and God’s judgment, we want to encourage you to take that next step of baptism.
Jesus came and told his disciples, "I Have been given complete authority on heaven and earth. therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit. teach these new disciples to obey all the commands i have given you. and be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20
