Find Yourself in The Story

On Palm Sunday, we wave our branches in celebration, but all too quickly they wither and are forgotten—much like how the triumphal entry can become just a small detail in the larger Easter story. Yet, this moment is rich with meaning. Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem not only foreshadows His crucifixion and resurrection, but also connects deeply with the Old Testament, revealing God's heart and the intentionality behind every detail. This story invites us in—and where we see ourselves in it shapes how we respond to Easter and what follows.

Jesus’ Entry was a Bold, Royal, and Prophetic Declaration

1Kings 1:33

Take Solomon and my officials down to Gihon Spring. Solomon is to ride on my own mule.

Judges 10:4

His thirty sons rode around on thirty donkeys, and they owned thirty towns in the land of Gilead, which are still called the Towns of Jair.

2 Kings 9:13

Then they quickly spread out their cloaks on the bare steps and blew the ram's horn, shouting, “Jehu is king!”.

Ezekiel 10:15-19

Then the cherubim rose upward. These were the same living beings I had seen beside the Kebar River. When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved with them. When they lifted their wings to fly, the wheels stayed beside them.  When the cherubim stopped, the wheels stopped. When they flew upward, the wheels rose up, for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels.

Then the glory of the Lord moved out from the entrance of the Temple and hovered above the cherubim.  And as I watched, the cherubim flew with their wheels to the east gate of the Lord’s Temple. And the glory of the God of Israel hovered above them.

Ezekiel 11:22-23

Then the cherubim lifted their wings and rose into the air with their wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel hovered above them. Then the glory of the Lord went up from the city and stopped above the mountain to the east.

Ezekiel 43:1,4-5

After this, the man brought me back around to the east gateway…. And the glory of the Lord came into the Temple through the east gateway. Then the Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner courtyard, and the glory of the Lord filled the Temple.

Zechariah 9 :9-10

Rejoice, O people of Zion!

Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem!

Look, your king is coming to you.

    He is righteous and victorious,

yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—

    riding on a donkey’s colt.

Where are you in the story?
