"GO!" // Pastor Bill Dyck
Imagine if Jesus crossed a stormy sea, not to preach to crowds or perform grand miracles, but for one broken man—an outcast so bound by darkness that he lived among the dead. What does this tell us about His heart for the one? This message focuses on home missions and the profound impact of reaching those nearby with the love of Christ. In Mark 5, Jesus crosses the lake to meet a man consumed by unimaginable bondage: isolated from society, tormented by darkness, and living among the tombs. Despite the man’s brokenness, Jesus was not deterred. He delivered him from his oppression, restoring his life and giving him a mission: “Go home to your friends and tell them what the Lord has done for you.” This story highlights the call for believers to step into the lives of those around them, offering hope and freedom through the name of Jesus.
This is not just a story of freedom; it’s a call to action for all of us. What if your mission field is as close as the home across the street? What if the miracle God wants to do in someone’s life starts with you? Let’s explore together how we can carry this message of freedom to those near us. You’ll leave inspired, equipped, and ready to embrace the mission God has placed right where you are.
GO! Nearby
You don’t have to go far to be on mission with God, nor to be fiercely opposed.
Go! To out of the way places
Intentionally going to places off the beaten track and not for large crowds. Might not be a warm welcome.
Go! For people in bondage
Though the marks of spiritual oppression are intimidating, don’t run away. Lean in.
Go! Freeing them
Setting captives free through Christ. Freedom is beautiful; ‘seated at the feet of Jesus, clothed, in his right mind.’
Go! Even if only briefly
Only one man has been helped, but Jesus came for him alone.
Go! Staying home
He is told to GO home, not stay home; sent home on mission
